Renowned Dancehall artiste J Capri did not succumb to accident injuries; but to bacterial infection contracted at the hospital she was admitted at, says her father.

“There are some speculations that she had a lung infection so we are trying to get the full details on that,” Kenneth Philips told Jamaica’s Urban Islandz.

Phillips says that the family is waiting for the results of a post-mortem report, which will be given after the autopsy is conducted on Saturday, before making an official statement.

The Pull Up To Mi Bumper star, whose real name is Jordan Phillips, passed away on Friday, December 4 while undergoing treatment at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica.

Capri was involved in a grisly road accident on November 23 which left her badly injured and unconscious.

The 23-year-old singer’s Mercedes Benz C-Class model slammed into a wall and overturned on Barbican Road in the country’s capital. Sources said speeding was a factor in the deadly crash.

Capri had been put on induced coma until the time of her demise.

The musician’s death sent shock waves throughout Dancehall fraternity on Friday.

Capri to be buried on December 14

The funeral service for J Capri will be held next week Monday, December 14 at 10 am at the University Hospital of the West Indies Chapel, Mona, St Andrew.

“This was the only date that I could get or else she would have to be buried next year and I didn’t want to have her on ice so long. So I am going to put her down on Monday,” a distraught Phillips told Claude Mills of Loop Jamaica.

Artistes scheduled to perform at the funeral service include Alaine, Christopher Martin and Cherine Anderson.

There will also be a celebration of her life at an event this Saturday at Little Copa featuring disc jockeys such as ZJ Smurf, ZJ Liquid ad Boom Boom.

“We are going to celebrate her life. She was a fantastic person, a star gone too soon, but we are going to celebrate her short but incredible life and all that she stood for. We are going to send her home with style,” Phillips said.
