Kenyans mourn Bokello, reminisce his hilarious scenes in Inspekta Mwala

Kenyans have today reminisced on the interesting Inkspekta Mwala episodes that the late Kenyan comedian Mr Bon Aggrey Okello, popularly known as Bokello acted in.

Bokello, who was also a radio presenter at Ramogi FM, passed away on Sunday at the Mater Hospital in Nairobi while undergoing treatment for pneumonia-related complications.

Taking to social media pages, the saddened fans recollected with nostalgia Bokello’s scenes as a police officer at Kona Mbaya Police Station.

The fans said Bokello’s delivery in Inspekta Mwala was very effortless, adding that he exhibited admirable talent.

Those who had a chance to listen to Bokello on Ramogi FM, where he featured in a program as Wuon Ombugu (Ombugu’s father), also shared their memories of the gifted presenter.

The following are some of the messages users shared on Facebook:

Francis Ogutu: “I remember the scene he played that he took loan to hire a vehicle at Sh3000 per day to go visit his family. He stayed there for two weeks and when he came back he couldn’t pay back the loan. He was a funny man indeed.”

Ester Olivia: “I remember when Mwala told all the policemen that they will be going for cross-country marathon and when Bokelo heard of this, he actually fell down and fainted in the assembly.”

Owino Kelvin Gideon: “Ramogi’s “Lak Chogo- keth nyingi to iger dendi”. He was known as ‘Wuon Ombugu’. I celebrate him.”

Zappa Black: “When in high school and we were together suspended from the institution, he smart-talked the Principal hadi akaachwa…….Otieno Oyoo High School.”

Kennedy Shikuku: I can remember in ‘Keth nyingi to iger dendi’ when he said when going to matanga you carry your tool box ya chumvi, pilipili, maji ya kunywa na kijiko to avoid disturbing people when the food is ready.”

Steve Waithera Bull: “I remember him on Inspekta Mwala when he was at the o.b. and a man came to report that his black and white TV had been stolen. Lesson…..never report to a Luo police officer such as case…..you will feel humiliated. Luo is just a calling. Rip bokello.”

Roisterous Evans: “Alipiga deal na daktari ili akae hosi for long only to enjoy the delicious food from home (Keth nyingi to Iger dendi) RIP Jakano.”

The Kisumu-born comedian starred on Citizen TV’s Inspekta Mwala alongside Abdi and Muliro since 2006.

Kenyan celebrities and entertainers have taken to social to mourn one of their own. Many of them praised Bokello’s sense of humour, which served to make Inspekta Mwala one of the most entertaining shows on Kenyan television.

Daniel Ndambuki, aka Churchill, of Churchill Show tweeted: “Waking up to sad news, RIP Bokello.”

We at Royal Media Services condole with the family and friends of Mr Okello.
