#MCM: Fast and Furious star Tyrese Gibson buys daughter an island

Tyrese Gibson has topped the celebrity fathers’ club list. While other fathers are buying their daughters, cars, expensive jewelry and even underwear with their faces all over it (Caitlyn Jenner), Tyrese goes ahead and buys his daughter an island.

The popular R’n’B singer-turned-actor, famous for his role in The fast and the Furious, revealed on Thursday to ET Online about his gift to his daughter 8-year-old Shayla.

“What’s the most lavish or over-the-top gift you’ve given or received,” ET asked Tyrese.

“Well, I just bought my daughter an island,” he said.

“Can’t say where,” he continued. “She knows all about it and the island is called Love Island. I’ll be putting it up on my Facebook soon.”

Shayla was born on July 11, 2007. Her mother is Norma Mitchell Gibson, whom Tyrese married in 2007 but split from a year later. Unfortunately, the exes’ relationship has not been a smooth one.

The exes made headlines in February 2014 when Norma denied the star visitation with their little girl in an ugly turn of events.

“Norma Gibson, Tyrese’s ex-wife, denied him a court custodial order with their daughter Shayla on Feb. 11, 2014,” his representative told Us Weekly in a statement at the time.

“Tyrese arrived to pick up Shayla and was denied access by her mother. Mr Gibson called the police to the scene, and Mrs Gibson called TMZ.” He added.

Gibson and his daughter were most recently seen in the red carpet for the 2015 American Music Awards and she was dressed in a black and gold dress, which she revealed was made from left over material from her ‘Beyoncé Halloween ensemble’.

“Tell me about your dress, it is so beautiful. Did you pick that out?” ET’s Kevin Frazier asked, to which Shayla replied, “Yeah, for Halloween, I was Beyoncé, so I had the dress left over.”

“Hi, Beyonce!” she said into the camera.

That may not be the only gift that the How You Gonna Act Like That hit maker has given his daughter recently.

Tyrese also revealed on The View, a daytime talk show that airs on ABC, that his recently released album ‘Black Rose’ would be the final leg on his music career to focus on his daughter.

He added: ‘I hate to disappoint my fans, but daddy duties is real for me on a very personal level.’

That is why he is today’s MCM. It appears the father of one takes his ‘daddy’ role very seriously. Shayla is one lucky girl.
