Late pop singer, Michael Jackson, has been named the top earning dead celebrity, raking in an astonishing £75million in 2015.

In his illustrious career that spanned over 30 years, MJ made an impressive £719million.

The multi-talented icon proved even more profitable since his death, making a further £653million since 2009.

His 2015 income has seen him emerge top of the list of the most lucrative dead celebrities, complied by Forbes – a prestigious financial magazine.

The impressive amount comes from two Cirque du Soleil shows, his music repertoire, publishing revenues, and his half of the Sony/ATV publishing catalogue.

Elvis Presley, who has made £36million, comes in second.

Peanuts cartoonist, Charles Schulz, comes in third with £26million. Fourth place goes to reggae maestro Bob Marley who earned with £14million.

Elizabeth Taylor rounds off the top five with £13million.

Michael Jackson’s income has been on an upward trend; earning £65million every year since his demise in 2009.

This also means he has not only out-earned every other dead celebrity, but also every living solo musician.

When the Heal the World hit-maker died, he was £392million in debt due to chronic over-spending and large interest payments on loans. These financial liabilities were taken on by his family. Since his death, the Jacksons have traded on his reputation and back-catalogue to claw themselves out of debt.

Michael Jackson, who has reportedly sold more than one billion records worldwide, was found dead, aged 50, at his Los Angeles home on June 25, 2009. Medical examinations determined that the star suffered a heart attack caused by an overdose of the powerful anesthetic Propofol.

His personal doctor, Dr Conrad Murray, was found guilty on involuntary manslaughter in 2011 on the grounds that such a strong drug should not have been prescribed outside of a hospital and without the correct monitoring equipment.
