Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez shares heartfelt message after fallout
Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arévalo reflected on her Miss Universe experience and posted heartfelt messages on her Instagram page.
She had been mistakenly announced the winner of the Miss Universe pageant and wore the crown for a few minutes before the rightful winner from Philippines was awarded.
The model, who will be celebrating her birthday on Christmas, made sure to lay to rest the occurrences of that fateful day.
She started by expressing her gratitude for all the support she received.
“After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and every one of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but also from the whole entire world,” she wrote
“Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes… Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world.”
Although she did not take the crown home, she also congratulated the rightful winner Miss World Philippines Pia Wurtzbach.
“I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS.”
Miss Universe 2015 Pageant host, Steve Harvey had mistakenly announced that Miss Colombia had won the 64th edition of the pageant broadcast live on the Fox Television Network.
Miss Universe of 2014, Paulina Vega of Barranquilla, Colombia, had already crowned Ariadna Gutierrez Arévalo, 21, of Sincelejo, Colombia.
Upon realizing his mistake he had to apologize before crowning the rightful 26-year-old actress and model from the Philippines on Sunday.
The 2014 beauty queen was forced to remove the crown; just moments after she’d placed it on Arévalo, giving it to Miss Philippines.
Harvey was bashed on social media for his mistake but apologized once again to Miss Colombia in person and on Twitter writing,
“I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.”
Gutiérrez previously shared several photos of herself wearing the Miss Universe crown, to Instagram, writing, “This moment will always be with me #missuniverse #misscolombia #backtoback Lo logramos COLOMBIA!”
