Naija actress Genevieve Nnaji gives strange love advice

Veteran Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji (Genny) has given a word of advice to single ladies.

The film star, who has been single for a while, says the best way a lady can protect her relationship is by concealing the feelings she has for the man she loves.

Sharing nuggets of wisdom in an interview with Nigeria’s Pulse, Genevieve said: “I would tell her never take anyone for granted. If you love someone, don’t waste your time in letting them know. Life is too short and we have to make every minute count.”

In the interview, which took place last week, the actress said she is not in a hurry to get Mr. Right.

“Obviously companionship is great, but the fact that I am working and I am busy keeps my mind busy. If you are busy, you wouldn’t bother about things that are not there,” she stated.

For a long time, sections of Nigerian fans have urged the talented movie star to get a man whom she’ll settle down with because “time was not on her side”.

This triggered the 36-year-old to set the record straight, explaining reasons for her singlehood to Nigeria’s Vanguard.

“If I get married, I really want to stay married and staying married is not an easy thing,”  she stated in the December 2014 interview.

According to the actress, who is considered one of the most eligible spinsters in Nigeria, marriage is more than just a union of two people.

She said: “It means you are completely in tune with your partner. It means you have found your soul mate. You will have to be able to stand a lot of disappointments that would definitely come, but then again you have to learn to forgive.”

When she was celebrating her 35th birthday, Genevieve disclosed her wish is to have a husband and several children in the next 10 years.

This led the public to believe she would settle down with D’banj, whom she was rumoured to be dating. The speculations doubled after the two were spotted together publicly and as well as when Genevieve featured in the video for his hit song Fall in love.

When a Nigerian media outlet in 2014 sought Genny’s comment about her alleged relationship with the Kokomaster, she said they treated their affair as very private.

D’banj would later propose publicly to the mother of one.

When media outlets once again asked Genny if D’banj’s proposal was a publicity stunt, she said: “I don’t know D’banj to be a liar; he has however said his mind.”

D’banj’s pal, JJC Skillz, would later reveal to London-based radio station Bang FM that  his friend  “had other plans”, and marriage was not one of them.
