No hugs for Obama in Cuba
President Barack Obama made history when Air Force One touched down in the Cuban capital of Havana on Sunday (March 20th, 2016).
On a surprising turn of events, the two Heads of State, in a press briefing, talked extensively on Human Rights and democracy, something that saw Cuba’s Raul Castrol refuse to hug Obama.
Through a video that went viral, Obama can be clearly seen reaching out for a hug from Castro but the latter was not ready for it.
Instead, Castro opted to shake Obama’s hand.
However, President Obama was accompanied by First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha Obama.
This visit is said to be the first one in 88 years since a sitting American Head of State set their feet in Cuba.
During the press briefing, Obama clearly pointed out that America did not view Cuba as a threat and he hoped that his visit to the country will set a new chapter in the Cuban- American relations.
