PHOTOS: How Luhya fans shook mabega at Mulembe Night
Traditional Luhya music and dance reverberated at the Carnivore grounds in Nairobi where fans got to celebrate Mulembe Night.
The evening was filled with pomp and colour as music enthusiasts and Mulembe FM fans in their hundreds thronged Carnivore to celebrate Luhya culture.
Shoulders shook in style and unison and women swung their waists in celebration of Luhya tradition.
The fete also saw electric performances by musicians like David Barasa, Namatete, Wanjala Okumu and the Jua Kali band.
Lovers of traditional Luhya delicacies such as ugali wa wimbi, mushenye, murere, tsisaga, busaa, tsimondo, ubusuma among others had such diverse a menu to choose from.
Luhya leaders also attended the night and got a chance to meet with the Mulembe FM presenters and fans.
Former Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa said: “This portrays unity amongst our brothers and sisters. This is meant to help us know our culture and build it.”
According to one fan, the event meant so much to him that he could not afford to miss out: “I have come all the way from western to attend this night. I have met my relatives and friends and it is fun!”
Mulembe Night is an event organized by Mulembe FM, one of the radio stations owned by Royal Media Services.
