Popular entertainment hotspot 1824 is set to make a comeback to the Nairobi nightclub scene, this time under a new banner and at another location.

This comes after the club, initially situated on Lang’ata Road, was in March this year demolished following protracted issues that plagued its existence at the said location.

One of the directors of the highly adored nightspot, speaking to Citizen Digital on Thursday, revealed that they have now found a new home on Aerodrome Road where they're presently busy pitching tent.

According to the director, the club will also no longer be referred to as 1824, but will go by its Roman numeral equivalent – MDCCCXXIV.

"The name 1824 in our brand is totally dead," said the director.

Videos seen by Citizen Digital showed construction workers busy at work at the new location, with the director saying the establishment’s doors will tentatively be opened to revellers on May 12, 2024.

Before its demolition on Lang’ata Road on March 1 this year, 1824 had faced a myriad issues that also saw it shut down by police in December last year.

Its closure after close to a decade of existence, during which it stood out as one of Nairobi’s funkiest entertainment joints, elicited mixed reactions from revellers who took to social media to share their memorable experiences partying at the club.
