Pregnant CNN anchor passes out live on air

CNN anchor Poppy Harlow passed out on air while she was delivering the results of a United States War on Terror survey on Monday, December 28.

“Back here on American soil, bad news for the Obama administration. We have this new CNN/ORC poll, which is quite a …” she began before slurring her words and going silent.

As Harlow’s voice petered out, there was a split second of silence with only the faint sounds of control-room voices.

Suddenly, CNN cut to media reporter, Brian Stelter, from the closing moments of his regular Sunday media show, Reliable Sources.

Soon, #PoppyHarlow popped up on Twitter with speculation about what had happened.

Almost immediately, the 33-year-old returned to the broadcast and reassured viewers (and Twitter) that she was okay.

“For all of you on Twitter who are asking if I’m OK, thank you so much,” she said. “I got a little hot and I passed out for a moment. I am fine and we’re going to take a quick break. We’ll be right back.”

Poppy, who is expecting her first child with husband Sinisa Babcic sometime in July, was taken to the hospital after the episode.

“Thank you all for your concern and messages! I am ok! Passed out briefly and am with the doctor now. So thankful to our amazing CNN team,” she tweeted, adding, “Update from the hospital – our little girl due this spring is doing just fine. Was a scare but we are both ok. Thank you all so much!”

Harlow and Babcic announced in November that they are expecting.

In 2013 December, Salt Lake City reporter Brooke Graham, reporting on cross-country skiing conditions for KUTV suddenly collapsed backward in the snow while interviewing skiers.

Nevertheless within seconds she sat up as the people with her rushed to help. And she kept on talking.

From the ground, she told viewers she had slipped and fallen. Later, she explained she was feeling under the weather that day, and suffered from altitude sickness.
