Pregnant wife, 44, dumps husband, elopes with lover to USA
A 44-year-old pregnant married woman, Mrs Hajia Abibah Anike Adebimpe, has left her husband dumbfounded after she dumped him and eloped with her lover and their only daughter to the United States, says Nigeria’s PM News.
According to Hajia’s husband, Alhaji Shamsideen Adebimpe, she changed her identity, obtained travel documents and moved to the United States with his daughter.
The woman reportedly packed all her belongings and escaped when Adebimpe had left their home in Idimu, Nigeria.
PM News further reports: “Hajia later informed him that she had quit the marriage and had joined her lover in U.S., adding that she never loved him in the first place. She did all this despite the fact they lived together for several years as husband and wife.”
The shocked Adebimpe added that his wife told him that: “he should forget the pregnancy and their daughter as she has given it to her lover, who has equally accepted to foster both the baby and pregnancy.”
An embittered Adebimpe revealed when he married Abibah in 2008 according to customary law, he did not know she had another man outside their union.
Adebimpe said Abibah got pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl named Nimotalai Adunni in August 2013.
He, however, says with the latest development, he is not sure he sired baby Nimotalai.
Adebimpe reportedly wrote a petition to the Nigerian Immigration Service and American Embassy in Nigeria, seeking for their intervention to bring back his daughter.
PM News reports: “In the petition dated 13 October, 2015, titled ‘A Case of Eloping, Abduction and Child Trafficking’, Adebimpe alleged that Abibah deceived him into marriage with an unholy and devilish mission of duping and swindling him to no avail.”
Adebimpe argues his estranged wife obtained International Passport for her daughter without his consent.
“It is very obvious that she had not only deceived the US Embassy in Nigeria but also the Nigerian Immigration Service in order to obtain various travel documents for herself and daughter with another identity,” he told PM News.
Adebimpe said when his efforts of tracing Abibah bore no fruits; he traveled to her parents’ home in Ondo State where her relatives informed him she had travelled with changed identity out of the country.
He said in May 2015, Abibah sent a text message informing him that she had eloped with her lover.
Through the same message, Hajia informed him that her lover had accepted to adopt his daughter and unborn child who is due on December 2015.
