Promoters, companies abandoned me Willy Paul

Kenyan gospel singer, Willy Paul, has expressed his disappointment with promoters in the local music industry saying they are selfish and only interested in making money by riding on celebrities’ fame.

The Kitanzi hitmaker spoke out after promoters he allegedly approached to help him market and make successful his Hukuniacha Tour abandoned him.

Taking to his official Facebook page on Sunday, the singer vented: “It saddens me to see how selfish and self-centred our promoters are.”

“We all know I have Hukuniacha Tour coming up. I went looking for help from some big people that I trust, but they let me down.”

Willy added: “Others giving me promises and not keeping them, calling me for meetings but when I call them, they switch off their phones.”

The gospel elite in a famous Swahili saying, however, expressed that he has no hard feelings against the unnamed promoters adding that one day they would respect his deeds.

Willy Paul revealed that it is Kenya’s music and copyright governing body, MCSK, which came to his rescue.

“Only one organisation stood by me for all the five tours, and that is MCSK,” said Willy.

He urged his fellow musicians to be wary of the promoters who are only interested in fulfilling their selfish desires, saying: “my fellow artistes beware of these people. They will use you when they need you and forget about you.”

The singer concluded his post by requesting his fans to pray for him ahead of his scheduled tours.

Willy Paul has tours in Eldoret on Sunday and Mathare at Huruma Redeemed Church on August 23, 2015
