Ray C: I am sorry for Monday’s nude Instagram video
Legendary Tanzanian singer Rehema Chalamila, alias Ray C, has apologised to her fans and followers for the Instagram video which showed her dancing naked to the full glare of the camera.
On Tuesday, November 10th, a video of the Mama Nitilie star was posted on her official Instagram (@rayc1982) page, but was deleted a few minutes later.
Speaking to Tanzania’s Clouds FM, Ray C owned up – admitting the person dancing naked in the video was indeed her, but she doesn’t know who posted it on her social media account.
“It is true the video was posted on my Instagram account. However, I did not personally pin it there,” she said.
Ray C added that the recording was meant for her boyfriend’s private use. She further alleged her phone was stolen by a person, whom she believes is a friend and she thinks she (friend) is the one responsible for posting the clip on social media.
“My phone was stolen on Monday (November 9th). I believe it is a friend whom I know very well who leaked the video online after going through my gallery. I never log out because it is my personal device; I never thought somebody will make away with my phone,” said Ray C.
The celebrated Bongo artiste said it is her lover who recorded the video, and it was meant for their private use.
“I have, however, reported with the network service provider, Vodacom, and they have blocked my line. I have also deleted the video from my social media account,” she told.
Ray C concluded her interview by asking for forgiveness from fans and the general public.
“I have run out of words; I can only apologise to my fans and the public. I wish to tell them they should understand as my phone was stolen by somebody I know too well. I have already reported the matter to police. I am sorry,” said Ray C.
This is not the first case the top singer’s nudes are finding their way to the public.
In 2008, her nude photos leaked online.
In 2009, a video of the musician engaging in sexual activities with different men also made its way to unrestricted audience. Hard copies of her CDs were reportedly being sold for Ksh15, 000.
Her conduct was later questioned by top promoters who in a bid to punish her then ‘wayward behaviour’ chose not to offer her shows and gigs to perform.
