Shock as Pastor forces congregation to eat carpet

Controversial South African pastor Penuel Mnguni of End Times Disciples Ministries has hit the headlines yet again after he ordered his congregation to eat a carpet that he was standing on.

According to a post recently shared on the church’s Facebook page, the youthful man of clothe “commanded the carpet to transmute into food.”

During the sermon, Mr Mnguni said he made his flock to perform the bizarre act because he wanted to “demonstrate the power of God.”

“He (Mnguni) commanded the carpet he was standing on to be food, whatever God declares clean is clean and what was supposed to kill will give life because of the word spoken upon it. He started by eating it (carpet) himself and then fed the congregation, those who were sick were healed and some received their breakthroughs as God can use anything,” reads a statement on the church’s Facebook page.

The caption was accompanied by photos showing a section of the congregation eating a red carpet.

The act attracted fury from online users who questioned Pastor Mnguni’s spirituality.

One Siphokazi Mshiywa wrote on Facebook: “I don’t understand this and God is not selfish that He will let people to eat such things seriously.”

Gbotesho Temitope Maria said: “Hmmmm… May God help us all to open our spiritual eye in seeing fake and original.”

Tebello Charles Tsoeu linked Mnguni’s actions to Satanism: “Demonic powers used by Penuel to hypnotize people and make them eat silly things; Satanism at play.”

This is not the first time the South African Pastor has done something unusual.

It was reported earlier 2015 that he ordered his followers to strip naked in front of the congregation.

Mnguni was also accused of telling his following to eat weave off a woman’s head. He told his flock that the weave had turned into something more delicious than cake, and it was not going to harm them.

In July, 2015 Mr Mnguni attracted razor-sharp criticism when he forced his congregation to feed on live snakes claiming that he had the supernatural power to transmute anything by simply issuing a command.

According to a post on the ministry’s official Facebook page on July 15, 2015 the pastor changed a live snake into ‘tasty chocolate’.

“Those with small faith eat only vegetables but the ones with great faith eat everything. During service, man of God commanded a snake to change into chocolate and it obeyed. People ate it and enjoyed the experience,” read the status update.

The ‘miracle’ of ‘turning snake into chocolate’ provoked reactions on social media with many expressing skepticism about the preacher’s intentions.

Mnguni is a mentee of Rabboni Ministries leader, Prophet Lesego Daniel, who made international headlines a few years ago for telling his congregation to eat grass.
