Sleepy David: My girl left me for Sauti Sols Bien Aime Baraza

Top Kenyan comedian Sleepy David has revealed that a girl he had taken out left him to run after Sauti Sol heart-throb, Bien Amie Baraza.

Speaking exclusively to Citizen Digital, the acclaimed funnyman said that he had taken the girl out to a swanky nightspot – an establishment that was also patronised by Sauti Sol.

“I had gone out with this girl, and then the Sauti Sol crew appeared. Bien is my friend, so I introduced her to him and she seemed excited,” said Sleepy David.

Her excitement would go a notch higher when the award-winning singer decided to leave the club.

“So when kina Bien were leaving, she ran after them begging for Bien’s number. She left me sitting there to look for his digits!” the comedian explained.

In adherence to “boy-code”, Bien did not give out his number – but the ‘disloyal’ female did not give up.

“She came back to the club to ask me for his (Bien’s) phone number! Aiii! I left her in the club!” Sleepy David told.

After that dramatic episode, the girl was knocked back into the friend’s zone.

“She was never my girlfriend, but now we are JUST FRIENDS. Her excitement was worrying! Sasa angekutana na Justin Beiber? Tungempeleka hospitali!” he said.

His account of the situation tallies up with what Bien told Kiss 100’s Jeff Mote.

“I was in the club minding my own business when Sleepy David came in with a girl. The girl became star-struck…So when I was leaving (the club), I went to tell them that I’m off and the chick started following me out! That’s when Sleep David started asking, ‘Babe, why are you doing this to me?’” told Bien.

Affirming his loyalty to his friend, Bien said: “Sleepy is my boy! Kwa heshima yake, sikumkatia stima!”

After this embarrassing incident, is Sleepy David still in the dating game?

“No, I am dating. I have other things that I am concentrating on. At this stage of my life, the last thing that I need is drama!” he said.

But if he was looking for a woman, Sleepy David says self-respect is paramount.

“If I was to date, I would need a woman who respects herself. She would have to handle what I do (showbiz) without getting too excited,” he said.

Don’t be fooled by his urbane tendencies, deep down Sleepy David still wants a traditional African woman.

“I’d to settle down with a traditional African woman. One who can cook really good food even after a long day at the office – si wale wa kuachia mboch kila kitu.”

Oh and the final requirement: she must be a head-turner, “She must be pretty! I know that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but my girl has to be truly beautiful.”
