Tanzanias dance crew optimistic of Sakata win

WT is one of the six finalists of Sakata Mashariki Season 6 dance competition which airs every Saturday at 8PM on Citizen TV.

The team which is from Tanzania, is thrilled to have reached this far. They opened up to Citizen Digital about their time in Kenya, the competition and future plans.

CTV: Is this your first time in Sakata?

WT: Yes, this is our first time. However, we have been in various dance competitions in Tanzania. We saw various groups in this East African competition and thought that we should also compete.

CTV: How far have you gone in terms of dancing in Tanzania?

WC: Dancing is our talent. We have danced for six years now in various parts of Tanzania including in videos, hotels and clubs. We love what we do.

CTV: How do you find the competition so far?

WC: We find the competition so far to be ok. We are happy that we have reached this far.

CTV: Which team do you think is your biggest challenger?

WC: We think all teams have their own way of dancing and are talented but we don’t fear any team.

CTV: What is your inspiration?

WC: Our inspiration comes from

CTV: How did this group come about?

WC: We were in a crew called Tii Africa Dance House but we looked at it and thought we could do the same if not better and we decided to break and form our own group.

We know each other well and we know each other’s talents. We also leave near each other, so we are like brothers. We love each other.

CTV: What would you do with the money that you won?

WC: We plan on fostering an institution to teach dance. This is a talent that can be nurtured and can take many dance lovers far. Many people want to learn how to dance and the school will enable that in the country.

CTV: Have you toured Kenya during the time that you have been here?

WC: No, we have not. We believe in being disciplined and staying focused in what brought us here. We don’t know places and we could decide to tour the country and something bad happens to one of us, which wouldn’t be ideal.

CTV: What next after the competition?

WC: We would love to if we could find someone to show us around. However, the fact that we were able to come to Kenya was still worth it and amazing.
