The Nyongos model for cancer awareness

The African Cancer Foundation in conjunction with fashion industry designers Kiko Romeo, Enkaya and Uzele on Friday October 30 held an event themed “Runway Against Cancer” at Dari Restaurant and Coffee Gardens in Karen, Nairobi.

The African themed charity event was aimed at showcasing upcoming designers as well as creating awareness on cancer.

Attendees of the function got a chance to ask questions and interact with experts on matters cancer. The audiences were also inspired by testimonies given by cancer survivors.

The Managing Director of the African Cancer Foundation, Mrs Dorothy Nyong’o, emphasized on healthy eating habits and lifestyle.

The event’s guest speaker was Bill Mayaka, a prostrate cancer survivor. He advised the attendees to ensure they conduct regular checkups to enable early detection of the disease so that it takes a shorter time to treat the malignancy.

It was not only a health workshop, but also a fete aimed at showcasing the best of fashion designs and statements in the industry.

The proceeds from the event will benefit the Africa Cancer Foundation.
