The reason behind Oprah Winfrey’s recent pregnancy rumours

The internet has been rife with rumours about media proprietor and talk show host Oprah Winfrey’s pregnancy following a revelation of what she decided to name her deceased son.

Winfrey, who has previously revealed that she got pregnant at 14-years-old, recently said that she has opted to name him Canaan.

Not specifying the spelling, she said: “I did have a son. And I named him Canaan because Canaan means new land, new life.”

She opened up about her premature baby and difficult past at an interview with news.com.au at the Rod Laver Arena.

“I did an interview with a reporter before I came to Australia and she said you should name the baby son who died,” Winfrey, 61, reportedly told the audience of 15,000.

According to the outlet, Winfrey spoke movingly about the sexual abuse she suffered as a young girl, which resulted in the pregnancy.

“I was raped at 9 years old by a cousin, then again by another family member, and another family member,” Winfrey reportedly said.

Winfrey gave birth as a teen to her son but he sadly died at the hospital a few weeks later.

Winfrey also added that she tried to hide her pregnancy at 14 because she felt so much “pain and shame.”

However, in a 2011 interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, Oprah said she viewed her son’s death as a “second chance”

“I went back to school, and nobody knew. Because had anybody known at that time, I wouldn’t have been able to be head of student council,” Winfrey told CNN.

“I wouldn’t have been chosen as one of the two teenagers in the state of Tennessee to go to the White House conference on youth. None of those things would have happened, and the entire trajectory of my life would have been different,” She intimated.

News of her loss broke in 1990 when a relative of Winfrey’s revealed the story.

Even so, according to celebrity.com, the 61-year-old is going to have a baby who she will name ‘Harpo ‘Oprah backwards.

“We reached out to Oprah to find out what she planned on naming her 1st born and she’s going with ‘Harpo’ (Oprah spelled backwards) if it’s a boy and Gayle if it’s a girl after her best friend of more than 40 years,” said the site.

This decision by the celebrity host was allegedly sparked by the recent birth of Mark Zuckerbeg’s baby.

The tabloid goes on to quote Oprah, “After seeing Mark Zuckerberg and his wife go through there pregnancy, it just inspired me to have my own baby.”

These are not the only baby incidents that Oprah has had this year.

In October, Oprah Winfrey had an awkward encounter when a man, who claimed to be her son, ambushed her after she left Stephen Colbert’s Late Show.

Winfrey had gone on the program to show off her 15-pound (6kg) weight loss when she bumped into the bitter man, Calvin Mitchell.

Mitchell confronted the TV mogul claiming that Oprah turned her back on him after helping to raise him for five years.

The National Enquirer reportedly prepared the disgruntled ‘son’ for the ambush after he said that he wanted to reconnect with his ‘lost mother’ after 20 years.
