They claim I visit Nigeria, get buried for 7 days to get wealth – Singer Akothee
Famous Kenyan artiste Esther Akoth, known by her stage name Akothee, has rubbished claims that she gets her wealth by engaging in witchcraft.
Akothee, whose source of income for a long time has been questioned, maintains she works hard and that she has never visited foreign witch doctors in search of prosperity.
Taking to her official Instagram page on Friday, Akothee laughed off the rumours: “Haha! they have been accusing me for years that I fetch my wealth from Nigeria (sic).”
The Shengerera Mama hitmaker told off gossipers saying: “Some say I go to Nigeria to be buried in the grave for 7 days then when I come out wealth just follows me! Now am going there (Nigeria) officially and it’s the first time to have this visa on my passport. Let me see if I will be richer. If it does not happen, I am coming back to arrest all those people believing in witchcraft. Nkt!”
Speaking to Citizen Digital earlier, Akothee distanced herself from witchcraft, affirmed she’s a strong Christian.
“I am a very good Christian. I rarely go to church, but I strictly follow all the Ten Commandments.”
For those who would like to emulate her flashy lifestyle, she said: “Get up your lazy self and work; don’t turn your laziness into fictions, nothing comes on a silver plate.”
Akothee however claimed she is still not yet ‘rich’, and that in the next five years she would conquer Africa.
“In the next five years I will be very rich – I would like to change my community, I want to be a generation of hope to the needy.”
Akothee has never been shy of her humble beginnings.
In August, the singer revealed to Citizen Digital she once sold omena to earn a living. She later relocated to Mombasa to go help his brother in taxi business.
