Top gospel singer Bahati Bukuku depressed

Popular Tanzanian gospel singer Bahati Bukuku is depressed following the death of her mother, Enea Bukuku, which occurred on January 12 in Mbeya, Tanzania. Bahati’s mother succumbed to complications arising from high blood pressure.

The Dunia Haina Huruma star broke down when she bid farewell to her mother in an emotional sendoff which was held at Mlima James Cemetery in Mbeya early this week.

“The pain of losing a mother is severe. Bahati has found herself struggle to remain strong through the heartbreaking period. I sympathise with her. However, I believe God will strengthen her,” said one mourner during burial.

The ceremony was attended by gospel singers who came from different parts of Tanzania, among them Bonny Mwaitege of Njoo Ufanyiwe Maombi fame.

“Bahati needs to be comforted and taken care of; for at least two days after her mother was laid to rest. Most of the times she is gloomy,” said a mourner.

Bahati Bukuku assured her fans that she is doing well when Tanzania’s Amani newspaper reached out to her on Tuesday, January 19.

“We have laid mum to rest. I am coping well, God is good. I will return to Dar es Saalam on Monday, January 25,” said Bahati.

The veteran gospel singer is famously known for songs Heshima ya Dhahabu, Dunia Haina Huruma, Waraka wa Amani hits, among others.
