Annie Idibia, the wife of legendary Afro-pop singer 2Face idibia, has reportedly shaved her hair in a bid to create awareness for breast cancer, says Nigeriafilms.com.

October is breast cancer awareness month and several campaigns have been organised to underscore the importance of early detection and regular check-ups.

Annie, as part of her own contribution to the cause, has allegedly shaved her hair. Nigerian blogs have reposted a startling picture of the glamorous celebrity devoid of hair and makeup.

She noted that, “Recent studies have shown that 20% of breast cancer is discovered by self-examination rather than mammography and we must realise that cancer is not a respecter of persons. It could happen to anyone, even I Annie Idibia.

She urged women to perform self-checks as this could potentially save their lives.

“Imagine the lives that will be saved if more women physically checked themselves on a regular basis. Imagine if we could stand against breast cancer by fighting the odds via self-examination. Let’s save the life of a woman today, let’s examine ourselves today!”

However, some quotas have doubted if indeed the Nollywood star has gone bald, with most of them terming the transformation Photoshop stunt.

The uncertainties have been fuelled by Annie Idibia’s Tuesday’s Instagram post which read: “Fast-rising make-up artist Arabyl Laide teams up with ace photographer Emmanuel Oyeleke and Nollywood actress/entrepreneur Annie Idibia for breast cancer and inspired photo shoot.”

Other top Nollywood acts such as Chioma Akpota, Omoni Oboli, Halima Abubakar, Chidinma Ekile among others have participated in cancer awareness campaigns in the month.
