In Summary

  • But I also feel that as parents, we need to be keen on what is appropriate for our children.
  • There’s a time to be stylish and there’s a time to be comfortable. This is what I mean, if your child will be out playing with friends; dress them in jeans, a tee-shirt and comfortable sports shoes as opposed to a party dress and cute ballerina shoes.
  • Kids today are becoming more fashionable than before and this is an unavoidable reality for us parents: Accordingly, it is our role as parents to guide our little ones in picking clothes that are appropriate.

The issue of observing fashion when it comes to kids clothes has long been debated with everyone sharing their views on whether or not kids need to be fashionable and stylish.

As parents, we all want our children to look good (read cute) in the clothes that we buy for them and before they get to that age where they choose their own clothes, we purposely handpick pretty clothes for them to wear.

However, many believe that a line needs to be drawn with regards to the clothes we adorn our children in because every day we see children dressed in less than appropriate clothing.

We live in a society that idolizes celebrities and our children are now being influenced by celebrities, especially those in their teen years.

Because of this, we now see more children dressing up in outfits that are ‘too mature’, posing the question whether kids need to be stylish or comfortable in the clothes they wear.

While some say that comfort should be number one when it comes to children’s attire, others are blinded by the cuteness of an outfit and their love for fashion.

Comfort Vs Style

Supporters on comfort over style believe that because kids are constantly active and on the move, they need to be dressed in clothes that allow them to move around without causing discomfort.

On the other hand, those who vouch for style believe in instilling a sense of style and fashion in their children from a tender age.

I am of the opinion that there should be a balance between style and comfort when it comes to children clothing.

But I also feel that as parents, we need to be keen on what is appropriate for our children.

There’s a time to be stylish and there’s a time to be comfortable. This is what I mean, if your child will be out playing with friends; dress them in jeans, a tee-shirt and comfortable sports shoes as opposed to a party dress and cute ballerina shoes.

What do you think? Style or Comfort for the Little Ones?
