Avril reveals the truth about the salvation prayer clip

Sorry gospel music lovers, Avril Nyambura will not be joining Size 8 on the gospel stage as some media houses have reported.

In a statement issued to newsrooms, the singer’s management said that a video of pastors praying for Avril has been misinterpreted.

“Sections of the media have been reporting the singer (Avril) is now a gospel artiste which is untrue. This comes after a video surfaced online showing the singer being prayed for by pastors,” read the statement.

The video, which was taken at the Catholic University of East Africa over the weekend, showed the Chokoza hit-maker receiving prayers from two different pastors.

One pastor seems to be leading Avril through the sinner’s prayer, while the second one thanks God for saving Avril. The second preacher goes further to pray for Avril’s music, asking that her music would be used to “spread the gospel”.

Responding to the online buzz about her ‘recent’ salvation, Avril said that she has always been open about her spirituality.

“I have always been very clear about how my faith is important to me. I would not be here if it was not for the love of Christ, so I had no objection whatsoever to intercession from such powerful people in the ministry,” asserted Avril.

The singer, whose mother is a pastor, was quick to clarify that neither her faith nor the events that transpired over the weekend would change the trajectory of her music career.

“The events, however, do not dictate that my career and strategy had an overnight overhaul. I continue to live my life in Christ as I always have through the guidance of my pastor and my mother. Everyone who knows me knows that she’s my rock in the word of God,” says Avril.

The Nakuru born singer, who is one of the musicians chosen for the third season of Coke Studio Africa, has had a successful career as a secular artiste.
