Big monies Koffi Olomides promoter lost in under 24 hours

Nairobi-based Congolese promoter Jules Nsana has revealed that he lost KSh10 million after Koffi Olomide was deported to the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday, July 23rd following an act of violence he exhibited against his female dancer at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Friday, July 22nd.

Entertainment websites and blogs recently splashed that Mr Nsana lost KSh 5 million as a result of Koffi’s deportation. He refutes the claims, saying the amount is more.

“I lost Ksh 10 million after organizing Koffi Olomide’s event that did not place at the Bomas of Kenya as scheduled. I had paid Koffi 95 percent of his dues – such a huge amount I don’t want to talk about. I had also catered for the transport and accommodation of his entire team,” Mr Nsana told eDaily in an exclusive interview.

“Economy class return air tickets from Kinshasa to Nairobi cost USD 1,000 (KSh100, 000) per person. I catered for 22 members of Koffi Olomide’s team. That roughly translates to KSh 2 million. Business class tickets cost me USD 3,500 (KSh 350, 000). I booked business class tickets for Koffi Olomide and his manager.”

“I paid a hefty amount of money for Koffi Olomide and team accommodation at the luxurious Villa Rosa Kempinski. I also paid for the promotion of Koffi’s event on Kenyan media. If you sum that up, it is a lot of money that I don’t want to talk about,” said Mr Nsana.

Kenyans, who paid to attend Koffi Olomide’s Bomas of Kenya weekend event, will be refunded their money, says Mr Nsana.

“Everybody will be refunded their money by Jambo Online. Personally, I did not take the money; let alone collect it. It is Jambo that made the collection. They were to pay me two days after the event had taken place. Jambo was to take 10 percent from total money raised on entrance charges, and give us 90 percent. You see nobody can claim that Jules has not refunded them because the function was a preserve for Jambo Online.”

And will he ever work with Koffi Olomide again? “God knows,” says Jules.

Just like many Kenyans and citizenry from other nations, Nsana says he was also shocked at Koffi’s airport conduct when he watched the clip showing the Selfie star kicking one of his dancers.

“The time I watched the clip on television, it gave me shock. Somebody can do something in your presence, but when it is played on the screen, it is when you notice the severity of the matter. It shocked me!”

“For now I would relax and cool off before embarking on organizing performances for Congolese artistes in Kenya.”

Olomide was deported from Kenya on Saturday, July 23rd after Kenyans and social media users across the world piled pressure on the state to kick him out following what appeared to be an act of violence he exhibited at the airport.

The musician baffled many when he descended on his dancer, identified as Pamela, with kicks after he touched down at the JKIA, Friday morning.

Koffi was irritated by Pamela who allegedly fell out with his lover Cindy Le Couer en route to Kenya.

Cindy, a Congolese female singer with an impressive vocal range, started dating Koffi Olomide, her boss, in 2012.

In an interview on Citizen Television Friday night, Olomide denied he assaulted Pamela. Instead, he said he was defending her and other dancers from an alleged pick pocket.

Unconfirmed reports from Kinshasa claim that the singer was on Tuesday, July 26th slapped with an 18-month jail term by a Kinshasa court without the option of a fine for assaulting Pamela in Nairobi.
