Blind man ‘sees’ his wife cheating, beats her up

A blind man sent court into stitches after he said that he beat up his blind wife because he ‘saw’ her cheating on him with other men, reports Zimbabwe Latest News.

Vengesayi Magwinya admitted that he assaulted his wife, Angeline Moyo, saying that it was all her fault because she slept with other men.

Magwinya surprised the court when he said that despite his visual impairment, he still sees what his wife is doing behind his back.

“My wife thinks that because I am blind, I am unaware of what she does in my absence. I beat her up so she starts behaving,” he said.

His wife appeared before the Harare Civil Court, where she filed for a restraining order against her husband.

She is also suing Magwinya for physical and verbal abuse.

Angeline was supposed to bring witnesses to testify that she indeed suffered abuse at her husband’s hands.

“The witnesses failed to come because he threatened to have his nephew help him beat them up,” she said.

Moyo said that she was seeking a protective order against him because she fears for her life.

“He is in the habit of beating me whenever he is angry. My father tried to sit him down and talk to him and he changed for a while but he is back to his old ways,” lamented Moyo.

“He recently broke my door and stole my property, selling some of it without my knowledge,” she said.

After hearing the testimony from both sides, the judge decided to grant the woman an order of protection.
