Citizen TVs Dorcas Wangira is among 100 most influential young Africans

Dorcas Wangira, an award winning journalist at Citizen TV, has been announced as one of the 100 most influential young Africans in 2020.

She has been listed alongside 7 young ministers from across the continent as well as other journalists, CEOs, activists, sports personalities and artistes.

““I am deeply humbled to be honored as young, gifted and as an ambassador for Africa. Our continent is such a repository for excellence and achievement. My influence is quiet and is drawn from authentic storytelling. I believe that I am most effective when a story I tell brings change without necessarily having my name or on-air presence. Being able to document people’s lives, their experiences and writing a draft of our country’s history is a great responsibility and public service. I hope that in my line of work, I can inspire younger and aspiring journalists to stay true to their calling and to pursue excellence in their craft and let their work speak for them especially when they are silent,” Ms Wangira told Citizen Digital on Thursday.

The recognition for her outstanding contribution to development comes barely a month after she won the Merck Foundation “Stay at Home” Media Recognition award for 2020.
