Cold wave enables tourists to watch unique icy scenery

Cold wave not only brings down temperatures but also offers spectacular natural views to wow tourists.

In Ziyuan county, Guilin City of south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, tourists were fascinated by the massive glaze and rime, both sceneries are rare as the whole region is located in subtropical zone with an average temperature of 17 to 23 degrees Celsius and a frost-free period exceeding 300 days.

Tourists drove or took buses to Xiamenjie, a tourist attraction, to watch and take photos of the beautiful scenery.

Massive rime can also be seen in Daming mountain in Nanning City of the region, where visitors will find themselves standing in a world that casted a white spell.

Rime refers to a coating of ice, for example, on grass and trees, formed when extremely cold water droplets freeze almost instantly on a cold surface. (REUTERS)
