‘Colours of Kenya’ campaign launched through an Instameet
An Instameet organized by Samsung Electronics on Sunday was the launch of the ‘Colours Of Kenya’ campaign. The Instameet, at the Presbyterian Foundation Centre, Ridgeways in Nairobi, saw photography enthusiasts gather to launch the ‘Colours Of Kenya’ digital campaign.
A mini Holi festival was held with the participants taking photos and posting them online. The festival is associated with the Hindu festival Krishna where people throw colored powder and water on each other.
The campaign is meant to unveil a digital gallery made up entirely of photos submitted by ordinary Kenyans chronicling their everyday experience. Photographers, bloggers and instagram influencers are encouraged to upload photos on their social media profiles with the hashtag #SamsungColoursofKE
The top ten photographers stand a chance to have their photos displayed on Samsung SUHD TV sets across Samsung retail stores across the country. The overall winner will be awarded with an SUHD TV the end of the campaign.
‘’Instagram has continuously encouraged its users to get out of their comfort zones, explore new spaces, meet new people and share their stories with the rest of the world. Instagram has given people the opportunity to experience moments and all their richness capturing fleeting reality, crafting images with photo filters and publishing them for the world to see,’’ said Maureen Samsung East Africa Social.
InstaMeets are steadily growing in popularity globally where Instagrammers meet each other, share photography advice and create content together to post on their personal feeds. Most brands are using this to showcase their brands and build brand love in their audiences.
