Fans make fun of Kanye West-algae running shoes that will cost Ksh.7K

American rapper Kanye West has unveiled new Yeezy foam runner shoes to be partially made from algae.

According to yeezymafia.com, the shoes will start being released to the market next year. They are expected to cost approximately Ksh. 7680 ($75).

“This is just the beginning of the future that Kanye envisioned for us to start working on and creating and challenged us to…Eco concerns are intersecting with what we do,” Live Kindly magazine quoted the shoe designer Steven Smith.

The shoes were revealed during the Fast Company Innovation Festival over the weekend.

Kanye and his shoes designer said the algae material for the clog style Adidas Yeezy Foam will be blended with ethylene-vinyl acetate.

They also intimated plans to move Yeezy headquarters to a 4,000-acre ranch in Wyoming so that the company has its own hydroponic farm and creates foam from algae.

Fans made fun of the shoes taking to social media to castigate the choice of material and design. Some described them as hideous, ugly and even crazy.
