Social media has become a modern-day religion and selfies are the rule.

No phone worth its name will miss a front camera, not even those Sh999 ones lack at least a back camera.

In this modern day era of immortalising every moment in a photograph, it is a cardinal sin to fail to upload the images on Facebook, Instagram or twitter.

In fact, if it’s not on social media, it didn’t happen.

This craze has not escaped holidaymakers, with tourists and travellers taking every chance to snap a selfie and upload it on social media, just so you and I sitting in the office can see what a good time they’re having.

All this snapping and sharing can take valuable time off your vacation.

Time that could be better spent jumping out of a helicopter or diving into a creek somewhere in the woods.

A travel company in Latin America has sought to solve this very irksome problem for you.

El Camino Travel has provided a package in which a professional photographer will follow you around taking photos “discreetly” as you make merry and sightsee.

The photographer will bring you dozens of photos in the morning for you to choose and upload on social media.

The tour company started one year ago and already has 2015 tours all sold out.

Companies such as Flytographer and Shoot My Travel have also zeroed in on the need for the Instagram generation to capture moments and freeze them in photographs.

The companies are providing a service that links holidaymakers with local photographers who follow them around taking lovely photos for print and social media.

Now we wait to see if Kenyan photographers will come up with a way to tap into this niche market.
