I was a typical liar in my childhood – Wahu

Celebrated singer Wahu Kagwi says one thing she remembers quite well about her childhood is being a typical liar.

Speaking to Mzazi Willy M. Tuva on Radio Citizen’s Mambo Mseto Show on Thursday, the singer shared some of the circumstances that forced her to evade telling the truth to her peers.

Coming from a family which was not well-off compared to most of her peers, made her perfect the art of lying.

“I came from a humble background and when I was little, I could tell lies to protect my image. I attended Hospital Hill Primary School; a learning center which was only a preserve for the rich. While other children were being driven and picked from the facility, I used to walk to and from the institution,” narrated the singer.

Wahu did not shy off from sharing the condition of the structure she lived in.

“I used to lie about my residence; I lived with my parents in flats at Parklands. The house was leaking, and the windows were broken, but if you’d ask me, I would tell you I live in a mansion.”

When asked on why she opted to lie, the singer revealed “peer pressure” was the main contributing factor.

“It was due to pressure from my peers; all my classmates came from wealthy backgrounds, and so I wanted to fit in.  I just had to lie to ‘belong’.”

The Sweet Love singer is currently riding high on her new hit ‘Nenda’ featuring Moti-Ice.
