I was paid Ksh5 million to share same stage with Ali Kiba Diamond

Tanzania’s music bigwig, Diamond Platnumz, has revealed he was paid close to Ksh5 million to perform at the same event with Ali Kiba.

Speaking to Tanzania’s Clouds FM, Diamond opened up about performing alongside Ali Kiba in an event dubbed Kiboko Yao at Leaders Club in Tanzania early 2015.

The singer said he was paid Ksh5 million, an amount he considers out of the ordinary for Tanzania.

“I was paid Ksh5 million (Tsh100 million) to perform at an occasion simply because Ali Kiba was also to perform at the same event. I think it is because of the ‘beef’ factor created by fans and media,” said Diamond.

Diamond explained that he charges such a fee when holding performances in Kenya, Rwanda and other African countries-but not in Tanzania.

“I don’t think in the history of Tanzania an artiste has ever been paid that much for a performance,” the award winning artist said.

The Tanzanian singer is the most bankable East African artiste, and his shows usually attract high charges.
