Ino ni Momo hit maker laid to rest

Ino ni Momo singer Sammy Murimi Nderi has been laid to rest today in Kirinyaga County. Local leaders, residents and the music fraternity gathered at Gatuguru primary school in Gatundu to bid farewell to the artist who was better known as Murimi wa Kahalf.

Murimi, who had been receiving treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, passed on the 4th of June 2015. The popular singer died at 31 years of age only days after he asked friends for prayers on social media.

Led by Muigai wa Njoroge, Ben Githae and Jaguar, musicians bid farewell the singer at the packed funeral service. They called on leaders to protect musicians’ intellectual rights since most of them are dying poor as a result of piracy.

Kirinyaga leaders were also in attendance led by Governor Joseph Ndathi, Senator Daniel Karaba, Gichugu MP Njogu Barua, Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

In the service lead by Anglican Rev. James Njogu, Kuria called on leaders to rally behind President Uhuru Kenyatta. His sentiments were echoed by other leaders present with Njogu Barua calling on the National Assembly and Senate to put an end to their supremacy battles.

Murimi was buried at Gatuguru village, Gichugu in Kirinyaga county and leaves behind two children and two wives. The service was led by rev. James Njogu of ACK.
