John Legend named 2019 People’s sexiest man alive
Singer John Legend whose real name is John Roger Stephens has been named as People’s sexiest man alive for this year.
Legend becomes the 34th person to be awarded the title since its inception by People Magazine in 1984.
”John Legend — a man so talented he became one of only 15 stars to achieve EGOT status last year — is making history yet again: the 40-year-old singer has now been crowned PEOPLE’S sexiest man alive,” People magazine said.
EGOT is an acronym for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony and refers to people who have won all four awards.
John Legend is married to model and author Chrissy Teigen. The couple has two children; a son and a daughter aged 3 and 18 months.
”I was excited, but I was a little scared at the same time because it’s a lot of pressure,” Legend said about his new feat.
He explained that he felt this way because the new title would attract the attention of many who would want to analyze whether he deserves the title or not.
Last year, actor Idris Elba was announced as People’s sexiest man alive.
The previous year, Blake Shelton –an American country singer and television personality–trounced other heavyweights drawn majorly from the entertainment industry in the U.K. and the United States.
The very first winner of the title was Mel Gibson who was 29 years old at the time.
