Kenyan men are cool – Yemi Alade

Celebrated Nigerian singer Yemi Alade says it is a popular misconception that Nigerian men are good at spending on their women.

“I hear people say that Nigerian men spend big on their women. However, am still looking for that Nigerian man who will spend big on me.”

Speaking exclusively to Citizen Digital at the Nairobi-based Coke Studio, Yemi said that talk is rife across the world on how ‘good and romantic’ Nigerian men are.

However, she says Kenyan men are good and cool.

“I don’t know why some quarters complain Kenyan men are unlike Nigerian; they (Kenyan) are actually good – they are so cool.”

However, the 26-year-old shied away from expressly disclosing on her relationship status saying ‘she is happy where she is’.

The Johnny hit-maker also opened up about her love for Kenya and Kenyans in general.

“Nairobi is a beautiful place; I have been to Mombasa as well. My Kenyan fans are just so amazing; every time I hear I am coming to Kenya, I get excited. There’s no month that goes without me coming to Kenya,” she added.

About Kenyan Fashion

“In Kenya you have winter, and people sometimes tend to dress very American. I am a lover of Kenyan heritage – the beads, the Maasai shukas.”

She added; “Nigeria has rich a heritage, but it is not as versatile as Kenya.”

Yemi won the Best Female Act title in 2015’s MAMA Awards.

The singer is in the country for the 2015 Coke Studio recording session where she has been paired with Kenya’s king of Genge, Juacali.
