Masai Ujiri, David Beckham The Kenyan bracelet goes global

Kenya, as a country, and her citizens have – in the past years – had a lot of things to be proud about.

I mean, the country has produced Oscar award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, ‘Blacklist’ star Edi Gathegi, English Premier League (EPL) player Victor Wanyama and a tonne of record-breaking athletes led by Eliud Kipchoge.

But, away from the sportsmen and women flying the country’s flag high out in the world, an overlooked little item is fast catching up too; the Kenyan bracelet.

The Kenyan bracelet – sporting the flag’s colours – has been around for slightly longer than most people think, but it is only now gaining the major traction it deserves globally.

This was proven when Twitter user – ‘Mzee Edd’ – posted asking fellow tweeps to “drop your Kenyan bracelet pics” and the result, as at the time of publishing, was a staggering 2300 likes, 756 Retweets and a horde of photo comments.

As it turns out, even 2019 NBA Champions Toronto Raptors President Masai Ujiri and England football legend David Beckham’s daughter love and own the Kenyan bracelet.

Below are some of the images from that thread of both Kenyan citizens and foreigners showing their love for the bracelet:
