Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko finally graduates

Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko is graduating tomorrow from Kenya Methodist University (KEMU) with Bachelors in Business administration.

An elated Sonko shared images of him in his maroon and black graduation gown on Facebook, letting his fans know that the journey he begun in 2013 has come to an end.

“I would like to thank my family, friends, all the great people of Nairobi whom I serve and Kenyans in general for their continued support and prayers on this long academic journey which will end in my graduation on Saturday,” said Sonko.

Addressing youth, Sonko emphasized the need to pursue education earlier on in life insisting that money is not everything.

“Don’t emulate me. I was the most notorious student in school because I made my first millions when I was in form 3, I thought money was everything but now look, I was forced to go back to campus almost 15 years after completing my form 4,” he advised.

Sonko also took the opportunity to address the rumors that his pursuit for tertiary education was fueled by a desire to vie for the Nairobi Governor seat.

“I’m not graduating because I want to become the Nairobi Governor. I’m not graduating because I want to please voters in Nairobi to vote for me. This is not the time to ask for elective seats or votes. This is the time to focus on service delivery to the people,” read his post.

Fans responded to his post with congratulatory messages for the Nairobi County representative. Even Governor Dr. Evans Kidero, who has often clashed with Sonko, lauded him on his graduation.

“Congratulations are in order Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko as you prepare to graduate this coming Saturday! You have walked a long way to reach this goal. You are truly an inspiration and demonstration to all that hard work and dedication does pay,” read Kidero’s message.

Kenya Methodist University will hold its 15th Graduation on Saturday 18th July 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Main Campus, Meru.
