Be warned, new Star Wars movie could trigger seizures – Disney

Disney and the Epilepsy Foundation have warned fans that the new Star Wars movie could affect those with photosensitive epilepsy.

According to CNN, the movie contains several sequences with imagery and sustained flashing lights that could trigger seizures in people suffering from epilepsy.

Disney has posted notices at movie theaters warning people of the risks of watching it.

The company however  didn’t elaborate on how the effects are used or what scenes they appear in.

According to WHO, epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases, affecting about 50 million people worldwide.

The disease is common in young people.

However, the Epilepsy Foundation noted that the flashlights can only trigger about 3% of people with photosensitive epilepsy.

Despite this, Disney suggested that the warning should not stop people from knowing how the film ends.

The movie company recommends that fans ask their friends to watch the film first.

After that, they can return with their epileptic friend to warn them about sensitive scenes before they happen.
