Nigeria talk of the town after unexpected reaction to Miss World 2019
Nyekachi Douglas from Nigeria set social media abuzz after she jumped up and down in her gown despite not winning the Miss World event.
Photos and videos went viral with Nyekachi seen celebrating up and down the podium when her fellow contestant from Jamaica, Toni-Ann Singh, was announced the winner.
She did not hold back her joy and cheered on, celebrating even more than the winner.
For the first time in history; Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss America, Miss Universe and Miss World are all black women.
This seemed to be the reason behind Nyekachi’s celebration that drew a lot of comments online.
One Twitter user @Whoahph, suggested that Nyekachi should be awarded the best supporter award.
“I guess Miss Nigeria in this year’s pageants should be given the Best Supporter to the Winner Award,” he said.
Another user, Andrien Gbinigie, joked that the reaction from Nyekachi gave him the same joy as a fresh plate of naija.
