Philanthropist Joe Kariuki launches project to empower mothers

Kenyan music mogul turned philanthropist Joe Kariuki has launched an initiative aimed at empowering mothers in the society.

Kariuki, who also founded ‘A Smile a Day’, launched Amsha Mama Festival in December 2015 at Tribe Hotel in Nairobi with the aim of fostering positive attitudes towards mothers.

Amsha Mama is a brainchild of African Women And Beyond (AFWAB) and is focused on pulling mothers from all walks of life up and taking them to greater heights by connecting them with relevant people and resources.

The initiative targets mothers of all ages, brings them to a central place in a bid to encourage networking among them.

“There’s nothing as powerful as putting our mothers in contact with each other, some are sellers, others are buyers, we want to bring resources together to open more doors of opportunity,” says Joe.

The cause will come to a climax in March at a mega convention that will see over 20,000 women from Kenya and other African countries converge in Naivasha.

The convention will see women of all ages showcase their business and crafts.

It will also be a great opportunity for people of various talents to showcase their abilities.

To attend the festival or to book a slot to perform, send the word MAMA to 22699.
