Citizen Digital Reporter Maureen Murimi tied the knot with the love of her life Ibrahim Dan Karami in an exquisite ceremony that was held at the lush Jumuia Conference and Country Home in Limuru Friday, August 5.

The bride donned a stunning strapless sweetheart floor-length lace gown, which she paired with a glittering Riviera necklace.

The groom was dapper in fitting dark grey three-piece suit.

The invite-only event was attended by family, friends and Royal Media Services staff. The ceremony began at 11am, and it was followed by a 3pm reception in the same venue.

An after-party was held later in the evening at the Zebra Lounge located inside Capital Center.

The newlyweds flew out of the country Friday night for their honeymoon.

Maureen, a Kenyan citizen, and Ibrahim, a Niger citizen, dated for a while before formalizing their union.

Maureen’s parents, Charles Murimi Kanja and Grace Wambura Murimi, handed the bride over to Ibrahim who was visibly excited, yet anxious for the long joyful journey ahead.

Ibrahim’s dad, Hassane Dan Karami, gave the pair his blessings and urged them to make sure their union becomes a success, regardless of challenges that they are bound to face in marriage.

The officiating minister, Reverend Tom Otieno of the Anglican Church of Kenya, advised the pair to hinge their marriage on God – and always consult when necessary.

During her brief speech, the bride referred to marriage as a “product of conscious decision that binds two people who are in love”, and she said she is ready for it.

The groom said: “…marriage is a life-long commitment that deserves respect,” and he promised to honor the union.

The event was filled with energy as guests danced to Afro-fusion tunes that blended cultures of the two love birds.

Former Tusker Project Fame judge and thespian Ian Mbugua led a band in performing a special song for the newlyweds.

The ceremony was also attended by Kirinyaga County Governor Joseph Ndathi – a childhood friend of Maureen’s father Mr Murimi.

The Citizen Digital says congratulations Maureen and Ibrahim!
