A burial service for a popular model and daughter of Nakuru County Government Procurement Director Eliezer Ngarari was held on Saturday at Kambungu, Ishiara in Embu County.

Linzie Mumbi, 22, died in the UK after suffering from a short illness.

Mumbi, who was pursuing Mechanical Engineering degree at Birmingham University, was hospitalised but succumbed to the illness on June 28.

She had completed her course, and was yet to graduate in September.

Linzie, a lady full of life who adored modeling, was the face of many adverts in the early 2000s.

Her radiant young face graced various billboards across the country at the turn of the millennium.

Most notable among them was that of the giant Ribena billboard at the Museum Hill roundabout in Nairobi and another by the railway bridge while entering Nakuru town from the capital.

Linzie was the first ever winner of the Face of Kenya UK beauty pageant held in Birmingham in 2013.

Before her untimely demise, three months ago Linzie made a wish that if she passes on mourners should not put on the custom black clothes at her funeral.

To the fulfillment of Linzie’s wish, mourners turned out to bid her farewell in bright clothes; red and white was the predominant colour.

“During our granddad’s funeral three months ago she was uncomfortable that people were shopping for black clothing. She said she would want people to be dressed colourfully at her funeral. It’s her wish,” explained Natasha Makena, her younger sister.

Saturday July 18 was supposed to be celebration of Linzie’s 23rd birthday; unfortunately, it turned out to be the day she was buried.

Mumbi’s career wish was to become a commercial pilot; that has not come to pass.
