Sauti Sol ‘good cyclists’ despite losing BET Awards

Kenya’s top boy band Sauti Sol’s tour of the US is turning out to be more fun by the day despite facing a myriad of criticism for their alleged ‘half-baked’ performances during their BET Los Angeles outing.

The four-member team is engaging in different fun activities in the streets of America having no apologies, whatsoever, to make for not winning the Best International Act – Africa category in the recently held BET Awards.

The singers took to Instagram to showcase their other hobby which people hardly know about: cycling.

“Cycling in the streets of beautiful Venice in Los Angeles, California. The vibe is just right. Chill time in Cali,” reads their post accompanied by a photo of them on bikes.

Sauti Sol had earlier refuted claims of holding poor performances during their BET outing saying it was out of their control.

The group’s publicist Anyiko Owoko has come out to defend the singers saying most African talents nominated for the prestigious ceremony did not turn up, and that Sauti Sol was just one of the few performers who graced the occasion, consequently creating a feel of incompleteness of satisfaction among fans.

Top West African artistes, who were nominees in different categories, did not show up for the gala. Nigeria’s Wizkid and Ghana’s Fuse ODG took to their social media pages to give reasons for their absence; that BET African Awards are being ‘dished out’ to sometimes undeserving artistes way before the official event.

Kenya’s Sauti Sol lost out to Ghana’s Stonebwoy in the Best International Act – Africa category. Unlike Nigeria’s Yemi Alade who has ranted about the unfairness in awarding Stonebwoy, Sauti Sol took to their social media handles to congratulate him for his victory.

“Winner Best International Act – Africa; Stonebwoy from Ghana! Congrats brother. Join us in congratulating him and all nominees in this category,” reads their congratulatory message on Instagram.

Sauti sol will on Saturday, June 4th hold performances in New Jersey, USA.
