Sauti Sols perfomance poor

After winning Kenyans’ hearts with their hit song Nerea, Sauti Sol have fallen out of favour with a section of their US based fans who accused them of giving half baked performances.

The boy band set off on a five-city-tour of the United States with their first show slated for the May 21st in Minneapolis.

The 10-day-tour for the honey voiced four turned sour when they failed to impress some revelers who attended the concerts.

One Atlanta based fan launched a scathing attack on her blog with a post titled, ‘Sauti Sol? I say Sauti so-so…’.  In the highly circulated post, Jean expressed that she was thoroughly disappointed in the much hyped Atlanta concert.

“They arrived three and a half hours late, put on a sketchy show of 6 or 7 songs on a low-budget sound system, then hurried off the stage after 45 minutes. I wonder, did they know we were there? Or are they conceited enough to think that they “have arrived” and no longer need to expend any additional energy on their lowly fans,” she wrote.

Her comments were reiterated by a Minnesota-based fan, Moha Wahome, “Sauti sol did the same thing in Minnesota after waiting from 8.30pm they showed up at 1am preformed for 45min and went to take pictures with groupies. They took more time taking pictures than they took on stage.”

Things went from bad to worse when only one out of the four band members showed up for the Seattle concert.

The band made the announcement on their official social media pages citing unavoidable circumstances.

“Hello ‪#‎Seattle unfortunately 3 members of the band couldn’t make it due to unavoidable circumstances. However, Bien-Aime Baraza, the lead singer is in the house and the show must continue. We’re working very hard to redo the show with all the members present in a couple of month’s time,” the post read.

Despite this, fans were still displeased and they took to social media to vent their frustrations.

“I’m a diehard fan but you guys are making it hard for us to keep being in love…a lot of improvement is needed before the next tour,” Nyokabi Kinney commented on the post.

“So we scan our tickets  till you come around when? 2018 May??? These Kenyan artistes are jokers,” complained Anna Irungu

Some fans, however, came to the defense of the band stating that they thoroughly enjoyed the concerts despite the challenges.

Others from Kenya said that having attended shows in Kenya, they found these allegations hard to believe.

Sauti Sol has won numerous local and international accolades over the past few years.

They have recently been nominated for the 2015 BET Awards as the best international act.

They are the only East African act to get a BET nomination this year.
