South African Sho Madjozi sizzles with new Kiswahili hit

South African musician Sho Madjozi has become an online sensation after releasing a song dubbed ‘John Cena’ in Kiswahili.

A part of the song goes like this ”…unajifanya hunioni labda mi ni John Cena…Ulinifanya mfungwa wako labda mi ni Madiba..”

WWE wrestler John Cena posted a picture of Madjozi on his Instagram page sending ripples online.

The song named after the WWE wrestler was released on YouTube on August 15, 2019 and was trending at number 1 over the weekend.

“I played this and my Android turned into an iPhone,” a user identified as New Flame said.

“Kiswahili language uniting Africa! Hopefully by 2050 it’ll be the official language of the United States of Africa. Nawapenda sana,” Austien Barasa added.

“Love the energy and how you bring Africa together in this one jam! Sho – you did this Pan Africanism thing – on a dope beat! Finish us🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪” Akinyi Ongeso added.

“I thought she was from Kenya 😂😂✌…..with the Kenyan swahili….😂only to find out she is South African,” Zainab Nyambura added.

“If u are a south African and don’t understand what she is saying press the like button 🤣🤣🤕🤕🤕,” one Cebisa said.

Sho Madjozi officially known as Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif was born in Limpopo South Africa in 1992.

She is a multi talented  rapper, singer, songwriter, actress and poet.

Speaking on Citizen TV during a past interview on the popular 10/10 show, Madjozi revealed that she once lived in Tanzania.

Her father was transferred from South Africa for work and it is here that she learnt to speak Kiswahili.

The South African government recently announced that Kiswahili will be introduced as an optional language in schools by 2020.

According to the South African, Madjozi became the fourth South African artist and the first female artist from the country to win a B.E.T award for Best New International Act.

She was also recognised in the South African Music Awards as Female Artist of The Year.

Her hit song ‘Huku’ which was released in 2018 was also praised in equal measure.
