Teens prefer Youtube to Netflix, study reveals
YouTube has emerged as the preferred platform for teenagers, a study that compared it to Netflix has revealed.
According to CNBC, the survey by Piper Jaffray found that 37% of teens prefer YouTube to 35% of those for Netflix.
“Netflix is the leader in category that contains massive multi-year growth potential as more content viewing shifts online,” Piper Jaffray analysts said.
The firm attributed the shift to YouTube’s diversified content library.
This includes teen-oriented content such as music videos, video game play throughs, how-to videos and clips from social media influencers.
Netflix recently had a rough run with shares falling more than 27% in the last three months.
The company reported a rare subscriber miss in its earning’s report for the second quarter.
There have been growing concerns from investors who expressed fear that Netflix may face steep competition from other streaming services.
Reports further indicate that there will be increasing competition from Disney+ and Apple TV+.
According to the study, Hulu and Amazon’s Prime Video scored 7% and 3% respectively.
