To appreciate wealth, you must know poverty Sonnie

Most of us aspire to be rich, some marry rich, and others engage in vices such as theft and corruption to get wealthy while others work hard and smart to achieve their dream.

We all loathe poverty, are irked by it and others are simply terrified of it, but gospel artiste and renown author Sonnie Badu believes it is a necessary step towards wealth.

Speaking during the Power Breakfast show on Citizen TV on Thursday, Badu said that for one to appreciate wealth, they have to know poverty.

The award winning gospel singer spoke from a place of experience saying he has in fact known poverty and thus fame and fortune don’t move him.

He told Willis Raburu that he was once homeless in London and that he also worked as a barber for a while before he was kicked out of his house for not paying rent.

“Poverty is a part of the process so you come out with flying colours,” he said.

Sonnie also encouraged those who are going through challenges saying that challenges don’t meant its over, rather they mean that God is with you.

He said that going through a test is what prepares people for future greatness and likened the period to the time students are taking an exam.

“The teacher doesn’t speak when students are taking an exam, God is also present but he doesn’t speak so that you can go through the test,” he said.

He added that there can be no testimony without a test.

Soni stressed the importance of mentors and mentorship saying that mentorship means to follow what your mentor says.

“Mentorship means if they say it’s not time, you wait,” he said.

He is expected to speak at the JCC on leading worship and will have a concert on Saturday.
