Ugandan army plays Kanu song for Uhuru

The Ugandan army on Monday played a song praising the former ruling party KANU, in honour of President Uhuru Kenyatta as he inspected a guard of honour.

Uhuru had arrived at the Ugandan Parliament buildings where he was to issue an address to the nation when the army’s band played the “Ooo KANU yajenga nchi” tune.

Kenyans took to social media to poke fun at the song, with many saying the move was deliberate.

@KinyanBoy said “Uganda army playing KANU yajenga nchi IS NOT a mistake. Well choreographed.”

@WakaliSteven quipped: “Ugandans should be hit with this old mchongoano,”TV zenu ni mzee mpaka zinaoshesha Moi bado Prezzo (Your TV is so old that it still shows Moi as president) #KANU song lol”.

President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed the Ugandan Parliament on matters to do with security, East African Community integration and youth empowerment among others.
