For those living in terrain that is vast and where public amenities like mortuaries are either rare or are hundreds of kilometers away, thinking outside the box is key in handling the resultant challenges.

And in line with that, villagers in Katemuge area of Marakwet East have adopted an innovation that saves them money and preserves their dead with some dignity.  Mercy Kandie tells us of an old age innovation used by the Marakwets to preserve their dead.
