1 dead, 31 injured in Makueni accident

One person died and 31 others injured, in a road accident at Mbuvo area on the Wote-Makindu road in Makueni county on Friday  night.

It is reported the 8:30 pm accident occurred when the mini bus which was speeding overturned, killing the conductor on the spot.

The injured were taken to Makindu District hospital for treatment, with three in critical condition.

The body of the deceased was taken to Makueni hospital mortuary.

Makueni county traffic base Commander Ezra Ouma said that the mini bus was carrying the passengers who were heading home from a function at the proposed Thwake Multipurpose Dam project in Makueni.

The function was attended by Water Cabinet Secretary  Eugene Wamalwa and other leaders.

Investigations have been launched into the incident.
